Overview

How might we analyze the reciprocal dialogue between design, representation, and construction to extend beyond the 2D constraints of 'the sketch'?

Through the critical evaluation of the composition of one of Alvar Aalto’s abstract paintings, I explored form and texture beyond the 2D constraints of a canvas to form an object that operates in three dimensions.

The project culminated in the fabrication of a CNC-milled wooden glass-blowing mold that can be used to produce a set of glass objects embodying Aalto's painting.
